I am real optimistic that introduction of a separate bill (SKIL)will definitely make its way through. Passage of CIR is primarily restricted because of illegal issues. I hope the house and senate look at the passage of SKIL Bill as a critical step (even if some don't like it).

Thanks for the compliment bondgoli. Being a person who has slept in the airport (floor) on quite a few occasions I have realized that people still somehow think that they are paying "big money" and so need good treatment. That is no longer true. The competition among providers has lead to their own (and ofcourse ours) decline. My kid always makes sure the nintendo ds and a few novels are packed up anytime the sentence "we will have to fly" is pronounced. Now we also pack up a few extra bed sheets and I am an expert now to spot the warm areas to sleep. We also keep turn watchin over the stuff when the rest sleep (ofcourse on the floor). And yes, we dont hold any hatred against the airline employee because they are "nothing" and can "do nothing". So friends if you see an Indian family sleeping in any airport dont hesitate to come and say Hi.

H-1B numbers did go up. Now also the numbers are going up to 115,000 and then 180,000. It is only GC numbers which are going down and down.

this is hilarious. aman kapoor the visible founder and leader got his green card just recently. and he is not the only prominent or visible leader to have got it.
Agree with paskal. In fact from both Aman Kapoor as well as Tamsens experience, the only repercussion of getting active and visible in IV is that USCIS quickly gives you your GC (probably just to get you off their backs) :) Dont we all want that repercussion?

Due to family constrains I might be taking some breaks in future which I think I can do with EAD(but not sure :confused:) and on pending I-485 ( I am the dependent of the Primary applicant of the GC).
On H1 I know for sure I cannot take this break for even 3 months without pay stubs. So I was working hard without breaks on H1.
But once I am on EAD status Am I allowed to take breaks between the contract jobs.
So My question is... Can a dependent of a primary applicant on an EAD, AOS pending status allowed to take breaks between jobs?

Hi, I have a question about PERM labor process. How soon can an employer apply PERM labor certification after hiring an employee?
There is no statutory requirement on wait time. You may not even be an employee when your future employer files for your PERM as green card is for future job.

Calling USCIS is not going to help any single beneficiary. I guess this has been already answered by Oh. As long as we do not get away from concentrating too much on "Whats happening with my application?" we are going to sulk.

And SOA, if urs is not a labor substitution, u better send another i 140 application along with ur i 485 as concurrent filing. No harm in doing it and u will be safe side.
I think 140 cannot be filed twice as it needs original labor.
So i guess we shud try to send a proof that it was filed and reached uscis on a specific date.

I am planning to move to a State, where the cost of living is low and hence the salary is lower than what is specified in my LC.
Is that an issue?

I filed for my wife's AP last month and here's what I had included
1. completed I-131
2. two photos according to the spec
3. her I-485 receipt notice
4. copy of her DL
5. and off course a check for $305 ;-)
That's it ! got the AP within a month, please read the instructions thoroughly, it's all there.

I did not say all of the dems, by same token not all republicans support immigration (legal or otherwise).
What I am saying is that generally, republicans have (even if it is to spite the efforts of people pushing illegal immigration) been more supportive of legal than illegal immigration.
While many democrats have been supportive, the one of the main reasons for the delay are the dems themselves, their crappy CHC, who dont want to allow any immigration bill till the illegals are elevated on the pedestal. The Dem leadership have put the immigration issue a hostage to the whims of CHC.
I still can't connect Republicans with legal immigration. I was asking before, what Republican sponsored bill was passed that supports legal immigrants?
My understanding is that Republicans are generally anti-immigration, whether legal or illegal, while Democrats are generally pro-immigration, whether legal or illegal.
I think Republicans are pure lip-service but we can't see any action from them. They say they support legal immigration but you cannot see them passing a single bill to put it into action. Even Bush was not able to push Republicans to support CIR. McCain was forced to disavow his support for CIR just to win the nomination.
On the other hand, it was always at the time of a Democrat President when immigrants had freedoms. VB was almost always current. You can get driver's license easily.

Offline work is on to compile data gathered before, during and after the meet. Some of the Meeting action points (easier) will be implemented soon. The rest will also see a forward movement.
Work is on to determine how to include members who couldn't participate personally, yet conveyed support and/or willingness to participate in our future activities - during the call, and/or through E-mails. We want to include everyone interested in our future activities. We also appreciate any other form of real tangible support coming from non-attendees agreeing to our cause and chapter activities. This will be crucial as we get into future activities, SOON!
