So that out of sheer boredom, H4 Visa spouses go to school and get an american degree. Eventually it works out well for the family (more $$)and the govt (more taxes)

I try to remind citizens (people i know) that they are offspring of immigrants...the point I struggle with is "how to convince them that they should actively support CURRENT LEGAL IMMIGRATION". Most of them feel that there is a system (which we know is broken) in place.
Maybe the discussion point should be LEGAL IMMIGRATION is normal phenomenon. The system is broken at multiple points (slow processes/supply-demand of visa numbers/wasted visa numbers/country limits etc). We are trying to FIX broken system and need voter group's support in that.
My request to you all is...bring awareness about inefficient broken system to everyone you meet...and we may have a chance of positive discussion.

Given thanksgiving is barely a week away, we can be certain of the usual platitudes directed at immigrants - this is a good time to remind the average American how far they have strayed from their roots and forgotten the true sentiment behind the tradition. Immigrants have always been hated and reviled by those that got here earlier - but the current anti-immigrant sentiment is vastly different in scale and sophistry due to the times we live in. If every IV member signs up 10 citizens to the immigrant cause, we should easily be 100,000 strong in a couple of weeks. It could be anyone from your advisor at school who mentored you to your buddies at work - even the stinkin relatives should be harassed. Though CIS and Numbersusa pretend that they are a product of the current anti-illegal sentiment, they started out much before the so-called 'wave' started. And they have adapted and honed their strategies very well to crush whatever relief Congress contemplates/passes. Consider the way CIS was initially dedicated to 'researching' immigrant issues that they would complain about the media's positive stories about immigrant contributions as merely anecdotal evidence not worthy of rebuttal. Now they are suddenly fond of anecdotal evidence themselves since experts began demolishing their claims of job-stealing and other baseless charges convincingly(esp CFR's Sebastian Mallaby) using empirical evidence-they shamelessly stoop to use someone's sob story to make their case. So, as repugnant as their motives are, they are too transparent for their own good- and they can't cover their tracks -which is good for us since we are appealing to the fair minded. Remember - every one in the US is an immigrant or an offspring of one. They have always been hated and reviled -so if someone who benefited from the immigrant tradition of this nation wants to turn around and deny it to those following him/her even though their ancestors did the same thing at a great emotional/economic cost to the then existing natives- they have a higher bar in explaining why the current bunch shouldn't continue to benefit from the great tradition-merely being bigoted but sophisticated enough to hide it isn't enough. so don't lose heart but dont sit on your ass either.

IV Core has mentionned many times that we need to educate the public.
I believe one of the rally attendees was interviewd by NPR, and he was informed his story will be featured on NPR in the near future. NPR is listened to by people who are highly educated and rational. They will surely understand the plight of legal immigrants. While piece meal legislation is being introduced in Congress, we need to be as much visible as posible.
Outside of the immigrant community (mainly lawyers and legal immigrants), no one knows what legal immigrants are up against.
Dollars talk. If there is enough money for advertisements as many have suggested on this forum, people will start asking questions when they see or hear those ads. Kindly note that my suggestion to look for other opportunities is ONLY directed at youngsters in their early and mid 30s..not for people like you are me who are in this mess! i left UK and came here ...that was a GREAT and WISE decision!!!! ha ha ha !!! (Before leaving , I told my friends there ---> I am going for a great future...I am sure my friends are laughing at me now!!!) If I had stayed there I would have become a citizen of UK with the whole of EU open for employment and Visa free travel to the whole world..

Hey guys,
I am planning to take Infopass to see what more information i can collect.
Also does anybody know if USCIS send courtesy copy of Denial Notice to you as well.
My concern is that my attorney sent G-28 and AC21 both but he feel that since I-485 got denied means they have never updated G-28 or AC21 so it might go to my old attorney.
Does anyone know if i will get courtesy copy of denial notice?

Basically H1 is done for LCA which is to make sure that American worker is not is replaced for for the purpose of low wages. Such an attestation is not there in H4. They cannot deny the H4 unless documents are not clear. But H1 they can deny for other reasons. Basically to make H4 not able to work is also a kind of protection for american workers. But it is strange that l2 people can work but H4 cannot work. One cannot fight every law because more provision we ask more delay will be there. IF Skil bill is passed in current form most of people will get gc within 1 or 2 years.

Hi guys,
I have just called the USCIS. They told me that the applications will not be rejected but just put on hold until our visa numbers will be avialiable ifor the nerw FY 2008.
In addition she told me that the Nebraska office is sending back the filing receipt to the applicants which it should not affect our h1-b visa status in case we are going to travel.
For the last part I do not believe her. Is there anyone else that can confirm that ?

URGENT HELP
Its a simple case. Its no company A, B, C and D and all applied for H1's or some vendors troubling me...so pls help.
I read all the posts on this thread but I dont think I got an answer I want. Here is my dilemma -
Scenario: I currently work for Company A. I interviewed with Company B and they are ready to file for my H1b transfer but they need me to join within the next 3 weeks. Today is Feb 6th 2008.
Question1) Is there anything like a H1Btransfer or is it a brand new application??
Question2) Does this H1B transfer go through the 65,000 quota system?? Is there a chance my H1B transfer can be rejected because I did not make it in the 65,000?
Question3) When can I start working for Company B?
Question4) Company B said that I should only inform Company A after I get a receipt from USCIS about my H1B transfer. If Company A matches up the salary what Company B is offering me after I inform them and I still havent started working with Company B, can I stay with Company A? If yes, What about the H1B transfer application by Company B?
