This is yet another example of how the US is happy to tax us and let us finance Social Security, then place us in a similar category to "illegal aliens" when it suits them. All the talk on the forums were about visa data movements only in the last quarter. So the one month movement for Eb2-I and Eb3-I is kinda expected and is not really a disappointing news.
The dates would move forward. Based on the discussions here, there are around 80,000 visas still available for this FY. (50,000 pending from regular EB quota + some 27,000 due to AC21 backlog + 2007 share from Family other quota). For the USCIS to not waste any more EB visas, the DOS will have to move the dates forward. I am expecting that Eb2-I will be set some where in 2005 and Eb3-I will be set at the middle or end of 2003 in the coming 3-4 months.
This month also didnt improve EB3 (I) condition!!
Does this mean more and more will convert to EB3 whose PD is 2001-2004?

I filed my 485 in July 11th and have received the 485 receipts. There is a possibility that I might get laid off before Jan 11 (180 days). My H1 B expires Nov 2008.
Questions
1. Can I stay legally in US if I get laid off in Oct 07 ?

I do not recommend Attorney Richard Prinz , Houston.
In my experience he is terribly slow, do not communicate with clients , do not pay attention to details.
His incompetence , has caused a colleague to miss the opportunity to file I485 before the retrogression kicked in july 2004 (?) and poor guy had to wait 3 years until jun 2007 to file his I485.
He hasnt filed I1485 yet ,for 2 cases from our firm, with PD current in June 07 , though the docs were provided with all the forms filled by mid june.
Once he collects the money he does not entertain any communications and says "your if u send me email or call about the case it will be further delayed".
His lack of attention caused me a denial on my I140.
I did not know abt these cases before i I had to deal with delays and denial in my own case.
He has only 2 admin assistants in the office. He still uses an aol dialup connection ,so you can imagine how updated he is.
Its frustrating when u need to be at lawyers mercy to get your case filed after paying big $$.

It is amusing to see that there are quite a few people who want the very door closed that they used to enter. It is even more amusing to see that the fault is always someone elses. It is similar to all the people who are opposed to immigration because it is someone elses fault that they are losing their job. Down right funny :p.
We need to focus on solving our problems without blaming others for our problems. Because once we go down that lane, we are no better than anyone from NumbersUSA or any other organization/ people who are against immigration. It is OK if we do not support increasing H1B - but saying that the H1B program needs to shutdown is not correct. Obama's lack of experience does not bother me as much as Palins because you have to see what people have done in whatever experience they have had. Obama did community service, has had a strong moral fiber in whatever he has said. Palin has already abused whatever little power she had. Being a senator Obama has atleast been exposed to world-wide issues. I bet Palin cant even locate Georgia on the map. Did you see her recent interview? In spite of it being carefully staged, see her stumble aimlessly when it comes to the question of the Bush Doctrine... The biggest foreign policy change this country made (decision to make pre-emptive attacks) and Palin does not have an opinion on it because she does not even know what it is. The interviewer had to tell her what teh Bush Doctrine is all about. Are'nt you scared of a person like that leading the US? Why does this country always pick screwed up vice presidents (Dick Cheney's approval ratings have been <30% for as long as I can recall)
Either way, from an immigration point of view (focus of this forum) we are screwed (see my previous post for stances of both presidential candidates)
Republicans chose VP just to give them the edge. It doesn't matter to them if the VP-nominee is qualified or not or can be President in a heartbeat or not.
Selection of Cheney as VP lead to the outpour of financial support from oil and construction industries. More money, more power, more ads. They are playing dirty politics. So dirty.
Obama atleast has fundamental values that makes him a leader. Young as he is, inexperienced as he is, means he is not polluted by this dirty politics.
I'm really, really scared for all of us immigrants if McCain wins this election. When a Republican president is under control of the elites, that creates terror from within.
Maybe in the future when he is president, an i-485 denial notice for a person with no underlying status will be delivered personally by ICE officer, put a handcuff on the person, and straight to detention until the next flight back home. That will be the situation if we get a President under the control of few elites, extreme anti-immigrant, powerful Republicans.

Hi All,
I applied for my daughter's PIO card and sent all the documents as mentioned in the instructions sheet of the embassy website along with the self addressed stamped envelope. I heard from my other friends that even after you send everything in order, the embassy people would call and say that they did not receive the self addressed stamped envelop. It happened to three of my friends. I am the 4th one. They called today to tell that I did not send the envelope.
The funny part that happened with my friends is that, they all sent $20 and the package came in the very envelope they sent in the first place, that the embassy said they didn't receive.
Did anybody of you also had the same kind of experience or similar incident. If so, please do share.
Why are they doing like that? Do they really think we would do like that, trying to save on an self addressed envelope? It really bothered me for the fact that the lady from the consulate was utterly rude when talking. I am amazed how in the world, The Indian Government is still hiring such people? Of more then a billion population, is that the best person the government of India could find for that customer service post? Its a shame and I am ashamed that such dic*heads working and representing India?
Coming back to the issue...she said sternly, send $20.00 or send envelope stamped otherwise the application would not be processed.
Folks, please let me know where I can complain about this careless attitude of this monster woman. What steps can I take to make sure they don't do that again? I live in TN and I can't fly/drive to Washington DC. The questions is not about the money, but the way they are operating without any ethics is deplorable.

Glad we are trying to take actions. Any challenge we face today, say Embassy, USCIS etc we let it happen. Unless we raise our voice, they feel what they are doing is right. We have to stand up together.
USCIS will be a much better organization, if we all stood up. Amazing part, we are the backbone for this economy and we just are dormant. When i say we, it includes me.
Just think about it, what have we done so far against USCIS or for our lives for injustice other than venting.

This is something a texas IV aspiring member has to go through. I am sure Amma was the participant of one of the successful lawmaker meetings. There is something wrong here when IV is so harsh on a contributing member like Amma.
Lets be fair here. RSVPing and not showing up is rude & unprofessional, and unbecoming of so called 'high skilled immigrants'. Its besides the point that the concerned members are contributing. Not to pick on any one member, but you can always call up to let the organizer know that you have a last minute conflict come up and will not be able to make it.
Its about common courtesy & decency :cool:
