Hello Michigan IV Members,
I would like to request all IV members living in Michigan to please respond to this thread. We would like to make the MI chapter much more active in our mission to solve many of the problems we face as legal immigrants. I think as a cohesive group, we'll be able to make a greater impact. So pls join me, Samrat, Jagan, Shailendra, Puneet, Amit, and many other active members in MI to make it happen. We have an exciting event planned for August 09 to which I would like all to participate, and make your voice be heard. Pls feel free to email me at: arenji@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Hello ... Please, answers my question
My 6years of H1 expires on Apr'2011. Company A filed for perm, perm went to Audit, Got 7th year extension which expires Apr'2012
Later, moved to Company B, got Change of Employer approved until Apr'2012.
Now I am going to India and need to get stamping. Will I have any issues in getting the visa stamping for 7th year? Please advice.
Both Company A and B are very big companies and I am direct employee not a contractor.
I have the CompanyA's perm screenshot and email, but don't know what its status, as i left the company and I am not in touch with them
Thanks in advance

As everybody knows by now, recently Arizona's Governor signed a law requiring local law enforcement officials to take into custody persons when they have a "reasonable suspicion" that they are present in the U.S. illegally. The person would be turned over to the Immigration Service, and be released from jail if they could demonstrate their legal status. Last Monday, the ACLU and various other groups sued Arizona officials in Federal Court to void the law on a number of grounds including violation of the Constitutional rights of equal protection of the law and free speech. President Obama has questioned the...

Ajay K Arora from H1B1.com was a good lawyer for me. I was in KY at the time and had the luxury of choosing my own immigration lawyer. I did H1 + renewal, and RIR labor that got recently approved, but I am with a different company now, so can't use labor cert, and I have to put up with the company's law firm whose service is of course, awful.
He is located in NYC. The reason I chose him is someone else recommended him for me.

The Cap seem to be moving slowly in the past few months, but something is different with the release of the new count this week.
As of September 18, 2009, approximately 46,000 H-1B (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) cap-subject petitions and approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption had been filed. It seems that some employers are hiring again and willing to file for H1B visas for specialty workers. This is a good sign, but this also means that visas may run out sooner than expected.
USCIS will continue to accept both cap-subject petitions and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions have been received to reach the statutory limits, taking into account the fact that some of these petitions may be denied, revoked, or withdrawn.

Hi All
My wife changed her status from F2 to F1 and recently she went to India, so she had her visa stamping appointment on Feb 18. at the counter the visa officer told her that she hasnt paid the SEVIS fee so has to go outside and pay online and come back with the receipt. she did and went back and she was told that she has got the visa and the passport will be mailed to her. she hasnt received it yet (its about 8 working days now), and when i contacted the consulate they replied: "We have provided a pink sheet, which says that the SEVIS is not updated in the system. Once it gets updated the passport will be sent to the mailing address."
1. is this delay a normal occurance and how long it takes in such case?
2. do you guys see any problem in this case?
please advice..
regards
Raj

Hi, i have applied my labor application eb3 in 2003 august and got approveed, applied 140 and 485 in july 2007 and i am on EAD
i came to USA on Company A in august 2000 and moved to Company B on 2003 march and applied for green card in EB3
now my company A is willing to apply my gc in EB2 and capture EB3 pd
but my lawyer says if my EB2 gets rejected they may not issue my GC saying that my new job is not same or similar (he says eb3 job which does not require Master is not same as EB2 which requires Master or 5+ years exp)
Company A and Company B are belongs to same management so the compnay is ready to do my EB2, but my lawyer is telling there is lot of risk involved
Please Advice

British-born actor/singer/writer John Keston is a world class marathon runner who regularly break records. That the 85 year old began breaking records more than 30 years ago at the age of 55 is nothing short of astonishing. The New York Times recently reported on Keston's amazing career and included some of his finishing times. Keston broke four hours in the Twin Cities Marathon when he was 71 and finished a half marathon in 1:39:25 when he was 80. I've done five marathons in my life and the time Keston hit in the Twin Cities race is about what I did...

I have returned today from india
The immigration at DTW airport gave me a tough time
They were not happy about the fact that i Canadian green card
They advice me to surrened it and said it does not satisfy the US and does not not convince them that a person is trying to adjust status and holding a canadian green card
He said he made notes and will keep an eye on my case and adviced me 2nd time to surrender the card and keep paperwork for proof to prove the US authorities
I Have travelled at least 6 times on Advance parole and always had Canadian Immigration stamp on my passport (i have not travelled to canada after getting my Pr card in Oct 2008)
Pls advice
