Iranian-born Omid Kordestani was Google's 12th employee and he is one of the key executives who has turned the firm in to one of the world's most successful companies. I just read an interesting article about Kordestani where he credits his immigrant background for much of his success and urges America's young people to adapt an immigrant mindset: To keep an edge, I must think and act like an immigrant. There is a special optimism and drive that I benefited from and continue to rely on that I want all of you to find. Immigrants are inherently dreamers and fighters...

My I-140 was approved April 30,2007. The appoval letter indicated that not yet elligible for change of status. The I-485 was returned together with the checks we paid. Please clarify and what can I do next other than waiting?

    Hello All
Just want to know my options here and here is my scenario:

I am on H1-B and my 6 years of H1B is going to complete on Sep so I have almost 1 more year to complete my 6 years of h1-B
Right now, I have my LC and I-140 approved from my present employer.
Now, I am thinking about moving onto a new job where the new employer is ready to start my GC immediately I take the new job.
    My question is:
If I take the new job, would I get my new H-1B for 3 years since my I-140 with old employer/current employer is already approved ?
I do have the copy of my I-140

    Regards

My I-485 and I-140 was filed last week. I was wondering how many days it takes to get receit and .
when does the six month count down for AC21 begin???? Is it after receit date or fedex date..thnx

    Please let me know

You need to wait till your I-140 is approved. Otherwise, you will face problem in AC21 stage.

That said, the 180 days count from "receipt" date in your I-797 (receipt for I-485). And its better to have few days more, if not few weeks/months (just to be safe).

This is a question to the IV core..
SKIL was sponsored by John Coryn (R-TX)
    and Co-sponsored by
George Allen (R-Va.), Wayne Allard (R-Colo.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Bob Bennett (R-Utah), and Trent Lott (R-Miss.).

Most of the employment related bills for skilled labor in the CIR were pretty much sponsored by Republicans.

I am wondering what kind of resistance, if at all, is the IV seeing in democratic controlled senate and congress seeing since these bills can be viewed as big business-supported or republican supported.

It would be good to get more democrats to sponsor these bills rathar just have them give lip service to our cause since they have the majority.

Julia Preston of the New York Times reports on a common problem that really should be a source of shame for our country - active duty soldiers who not only have to deal with the dangers of serving in a war zone, but also have to deal with the tremendous psychological strain of dealing with family members facing deportation. Lt. Kenneth Tenebro enlisted in the armed forces after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, signing up even before he became an American citizen. Lieutenant Tenebro during his tour of duty in Iraq in 2008. He served one tour of duty in...

    Atlanta EB victim,

What USCIS & DOS did to use on July 2nd should serve as a wakeup call for all
    of us.

Can we get a head count of number of EB victims in Atlanta to start some constructive action against this injustice.

    Thanks,

The Brookings Institute's Darrell West has authored a new book entitled Brain Gain: Rethinking US Immigration Policy which makes the case that comprehensive immigration reform is critical to keeping the US competitive in the 21st century global economy. From the Brookings description of the new work: Many of Americas greatest artists, scientists, inventors, educators, and entrepreneurs have come from abroad. Rather than suffering from the brain drain of talented and educated individuals emigrating, the United States has benefited greatly over the years from the brain gain of immigration. These gifted immigrants have engineered advances in energy, information technology, international commerce,...

    Hi all.

Does anyone know if one can import a Poser file into Swift 3D, animate it, and export it as a vector-animated movie to Flash 5? It would be nice to see Poser characters move well in Flash without having to rely solely on Flash.

My cousin got a H1B petition approved (via the lottery system) last year. One consultant in the US had filed his H1B, and my cousin was asked to pay for the entire process, which he did. But, nothing happened last year after that, because the job market turned worse. My cousin did not appear for the visa interview.
Now, when he is trying to get in touch with the consultant, he is not getting any response. What are my cousin's options now?

    Thanks.

    Hi

I am working with a company in US on a H1B Visa. My Visa has been expired. I had applied for H1B extn thru my employer. Today I recd something is very unusual. I recd a H1B extn approval notice in one mail, and another mail with a RFE with the same receipt number as my receipt#.

Not sure what this would mean, Not sure what takes precedence. I know for sure, this is a unusual case. Let me know in this case what should I do. I have asked my employer to question USCIS on this, they will be doing their part tomorrow morning.

Let me know if someone has gone thru this experience. I am sure this is a one off scenario, but for sure there may be lot of helpful souls around who know how much pain it is for not having a valid I94. Personally I am going thru a tough time as my state has expired my driving license as my Visa has expired.

All help and advice is welcome with loads of wishes and good luck to all you there

    Thanks and Regards
    NShethia
